WHAT MOISTURIZER IS PERFECT FOR YOUR SKIN CONCERN?

I think it’s safe to say that when it comes to skincare options, the choices are abundant. As a skincare professional it’s important to understand and read product labels, know what dose is in the product, what ingredients play into each skin routine and what contraindications should be warranted. This allows me to be successful for YOU and make sure you are putting the good stuff on your skin. Sifting through the good stuff in this particular instance, the focus will be on ceramides in moisturizers and how they work.

WHAT ARE CERAMIDES?
In human skin, ceramides are found in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the epidermis. They are part of the lipid matrix that holds the skin cells together, much like mortar holding bricks together in a wall. Not to sound dramatic, but they are needed!

HOW CERAMIDES BENEFIT THE SKIN
Ceramides play a critical role in maintaining the skin barrier and retaining moisture. They help to protect the skin from environmental stressors such as allergens, irritants, and pathogens. By maintaining the integrity of the skin barrier, ceramides prevent excessive water loss, keeping the skin hydrated and healthy.

A deficiency or imbalance in ceramides can lead to skin conditions such as dryness, eczema, and psoriasis. These conditions are often characterized by a compromised skin barrier, leading to increased sensitivity and irritation.

CERAMIDES IN YOUR SKINCARE PRODUCTS
Without making things complicated on what ceramides are what, let’s K.I.S.S. shall we and talk about formulations.

More than anything, the product must smell and feel good while keeping the product effective. A good cosmetic chemist will be able to formulate a product that functions properly, as well as have a very good aesthetic features. Let’s face it, if you don’t like how something smells or feels you just won’t use it.

Now function. The function of the lotion or cream (hydrating, anti-aging, acne, etc.), it is important to look for the occlusive/humectant moisturization blend of ingredients near the top of the ingredient list. After the active ingredients, some are less than 1% and they can be listed in any order on the label. More often than not, there is not much in most of what you are buying.

Consistency matters and thicker does not mean better—especially when it comes to acne. Smart marketing has trained to you to think that the thicker the lotion/cream, the more effective it will be. JUST. NOT. TRUE. Typically, a night and a day cream are recommended in a typical skin care routine, but this is determined during a consultation.

When choosing skincare products, it’s important to consider the overall formulation and the specific needs of your skin. So, if you are looking to up your moisture because you have dry skin or you have acne/oily skin and you are looking for something that will not clog your skin, you have come to the right place.

I have used the repair and restore for over a year now. With the recommendation from my skin print representative, Lou Boyd, I have noticed a positive difference in my skin. My face is clearer, moisturized and less lines. I would 100% recommend this product along with the other skin print products that have been recommended for my particular issues
